Barolo Villero Riserva 2013 – Vietti

Last week, I had the pleasure of enjoying the Barolo Villero Riserva 2013 from Vietti, a wine produced exclusively in exceptional vintages. This Riserva is released only about once every four years, with the previous edition dating back to 2010. The label for this special edition was designed by artist Alessandro Piangiamore, adding a unique touch to the bottle.

The wine presents itself with a deep ruby-red color and a complex bouquet of ripe black cherries, plums, leather, and chocolate. On the palate, it reveals a powerful structure with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. These characteristics reflect both the exceptional quality of the Villero vineyard and Vietti’s craftsmanship.

The pairing with grilled lamb chops was outstanding. The juicy, slightly smoky flavor of the lamb beautifully complemented the wine’s complex aromas and firm structure, enhancing both elements and creating a memorable culinary experience.
