Barbaresco Gallina 2004 – La Spinetta

This time, we’ve chosen a wine from the stunning Piedmont region: a Barbaresco from La Spinetta. We’ve been working with this winery for over 30 years and have always held their wines in the highest regard.

The Barbaresco Gallina 2004 is a refined and elegant wine that embodies the essence of the Langhe region. Sourced from the prestigious Gallina vineyard in Neive, where 55-year-old Nebbiolo vines thrive in calcareous marl and sandy soils, this wine reflects both the uniqueness of its terroir and the dedication of the winery.

When poured, it reveals an intense garnet-red color with vibrant reflections. The bouquet is complex and captivating, offering aromas of ripe cherries, plums, and wild berries, enriched by hints of spices, rose petals, and a subtle minerality that is characteristic of the terroir.

On the palate, the Barbaresco Gallina 2004 delivers a rich and full-bodied experience. Its velvety tannins and well-integrated acidity create a perfect balance. Flavors of ripe red fruit are complemented by notes of spice, tobacco, and a delicate earthy undertone. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering fruit and floral accents.

This wine pairs beautifully with dishes such as mushroom risotto, braised chicken alla cacciatora, or red meats like ossobuco. It also complements aged cheeses wonderfully. For the best tasting experience, we recommend serving it at 16-17°C in a Burgundy glass.

The Barbaresco Gallina 2004 from La Spinetta is a wine that exudes both power and finesse, paying tribute to the rich winemaking tradition of Piedmont. Each sip tells a story of passion, dedication, and love for the land, making this Barbaresco an unforgettable experience for true wine lovers.
